Lancaster County settles for $1.3 million with five victims of former Youth Intervention Center worker

Lancaster County has agreed to pay a total of $1.3 million to five women who as minors were sexually assaulted by a county employee at the Youth Intervention Center.

Along with a $400,000 paid to another victim earlier this year, the payments represent one of the largest settlements in the county’s history.

The county itself is paying $375,000 of the $1.3 million, while the rest is paid by the county’s insurance agent.

Lawsuit: Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center failed to act after girls alleged harassment

The Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center failed for months to take action after girls in the shelter complained about a youth care worker’s inappropriate behavior, a lawsuit alleges.

The worker, David T. Stevenson, 55, is now serving 10 to 25 years in state prison after pleading guilty and no contest last month to a score of sex abuse charges involving five girls at the county-run shelter.

Lancaster County pays $400,000 to minor sexually assaulted while in its care. Did the county ignore the signs?

Lancaster County has agreed to pay $400,000 to a girl who was sexually assaulted by an employee of its juvenile detention center in 2017 when she was 15 years old.

The settlement agreement, one of the largest in county history, resolves only the first of numerous federal lawsuits filed against the county over the abusive Youth Intervention Center worker.
